Workers Report Serious Medical Billing Failures at Logan Health

Logan Health nurses report widespread medical billing issues, from overcharges to double billing, often involving thousands of dollars. According to a 2025 Nurse Billing Survey conducted by SEIU Healthcare 1199NW:

  • $36,000 overcharge is not a clerical error: One Logan Health nurse reported being overcharged $36,000. Others were billed more than their out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Late billing blocked workers from using HSAs: Some bills arrived so late that workers couldn’t use their HSAs because the bill came the following year.
  • Workers got bills before insurance was processed: Multiple workers reported receiving bills before insurance was billed, shifting the burden onto employees.

Workers Were Told to Chase Their Own Billing Fixes

Internal emails instructed workers to contact multiple administrators to resolve billing errors, placing the burden on employees.

I’ve discussed with our benefits administrator, as well as with our rev cycle/patient accounting teams. We have examined each account. Some are correct, but for some we need further discussion to understand the issue. I know the rev cycle folks have reached out to some of these employees but so far without success. I think it may be helpful to give these employees with issues the following contacts:

[name redacted], Manager Benefits and Retirement: [email redacted]

[name redacted], Director Patient Accounting: [email redacted]

[name redacted], Manager Customer Service: [email redacted]

[name redacted], Executive Director Revenue Cycle: [email redacted]

It would be helpful if employees cc’d all of these folks to any communication so that we can ensure the fastest service and so we can appropriately root cause if there are any issues that need prevention going forward.
